When your gut bacteria ferment fiber, they produce compounds that trigger the release of hormones controlling blood sugar and appetite, the very same hormones some diabetes medications are designed to copy. A fiber-rich diet supporting active gut bacteria therefore supports blood sugar regulation through a direct biological pathway, not just a vague dietary improvement.
