Raspberries have one of the best fiber-to-sugar ratios of any common fruit, and on top of that, they're packed with the same class of gut-transforming plant compounds covered elsewhere in this series for pomegranate and grapes, giving them a genuine two-for-one case for gut health.

When researchers looked at how raspberries ferment in the colon, they found that most of raspberry's prebiotic punch comes from compounds that stay mainly attached to its fiber rather than drifting around loose in your gut[1]. What to do with this

A cup of raspberries daily is a reasonable, food-based way to combine real fiber with these beneficial plant compounds, without needing to overthink the exact amount given the research suggesting moderate portions may work as well as or better than very large ones. Frozen raspberries keep their beneficial compounds well, making this an affordable, year-round habit.
