Spinach disappears completely into a blender full of banana and pear, so this tastes like a fruit smoothie while actually delivering a serious dose of fiber and water in one glass. It's the easiest way to get leafy greens in before 8am.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh spinach
  • 1 ripe pear, cored and chopped
  • 1 banana
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 cup water or coconut water
  • 1/2 cup ice

Instructions

  1. Add spinach, pear, banana, chia seeds, and water to a blender.
  2. Blend on high for 60-90 seconds until completely smooth.
  3. Add ice and blend again until thick and cold.
  4. Pour into a glass and drink right away, or let it sit 5 minutes for the chia to thicken further.

Why This Is Good for Your Gut

Pear is naturally high in sorbitol and fiber, both of which help draw water into the colon and ease stool passage. Chia seeds swell into a gel that adds bulk and lubrication, and the hydration from the water base supports everything moving the way it should. Spinach adds magnesium, which also plays a role in healthy bowel function.

Keep pre-washed spinach on hand and this becomes a five minute habit worth keeping. For another fiber-forward morning blend, try our Kiwi and Psyllium Morning Smoothie.
