Thin cucumber slices and bruised mint leaves steeped in a pitcher of cold water take on just enough flavor to make plain water feel like an actual drink worth reaching for. It's the easiest way to hit your fluid intake for the day without sugar, caffeine, or anything else to think about. Ingredients

  • 1 large cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 1 handful fresh mint leaves, lightly bruised
  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced
  • 8 cups cold water
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Combine cucumber, mint, and lemon slices in a large pitcher.
  2. Muddle gently with a spoon to release the mint's oils, without shredding the leaves.
  3. Pour cold water over top and stir.
  4. Refrigerate at least 2 hours, or overnight for a stronger flavor.
  5. Serve over ice, topping up the pitcher with fresh water as needed through the day.
